Rotisserie Chicken Review

I’ve been meal prepping for a while now, and one thing that’s always caught my attention is the grocery store rotisserie chicken. It’s convenient, relatively cheap, and can be used in a variety of dishes. I decided to give it a try and see if it’s worth incorporating into my meal prep routine.

Convenience and Cost

I picked up a rotisserie chicken from my local grocery store for around $6. It was ready to go, no cooking required, which saved me about an hour of time. I used it to make a few different meals, including chicken salad, chicken soup, and chicken tacos. The total cost per meal ended up being around $1.50, which is a pretty good deal.

Meal Ideas and Prep Time

I found that the rotisserie chicken was really versatile and could be used in a lot of different meals. Some of my favorite ideas included:

  • Chicken salad with mixed greens, veggies, and a homemade vinaigrette
  • Chicken soup with noodles, veggies, and a side of crusty bread
  • Chicken tacos with salsa, avocado, and sour cream
  • Chicken Caesar salad with romaine lettuce, croutons, and parmesan cheese

Prep time was relatively quick, around 30 minutes per meal, which is a big plus for me. I like being able to cook and prep my meals quickly, so I can have more free time to do other things.

Quality and Taste

The quality of the rotisserie chicken was better than I expected. The meat was tender and flavorful, and it didn’t have any weird preservatives or additives. I was a bit worried that it would be dry or tasteless, but that wasn’t the case at all. I also appreciated that it was already cooked, so I didn’t have to worry about food safety or overcooking it.

Spring Meal Prep Ideas

Now that Spring is here, I’m looking forward to doing more outdoor eating and picnics. The rotisserie chicken is a great option for these types of meals, since it’s easy to transport and can be used in a variety of dishes. I’m thinking of making some chicken salad sandwiches, or using it in a Spring-inspired chicken salad with strawberries and feta cheese. Random side note: I recently started decorating my place more intentionally and found some really cool wall art at this Etsy shop — worth a look if you’re into that kind of thing.

Overall, I think the grocery store rotisserie chicken is a great option for meal prep. It’s convenient, affordable, and can be used in a lot of different meals. What do you use for quick and easy meal prep?
