7 Days of Fitness Meal Prep

I recently decided to try meal prepping like the fitness influencers for a week, and I have to say it was an interesting experience. I’ve always been a fan of meal prep, but I usually keep it simple and practical, so I wanted to see what it would be like to take it to the next level. I chose a week in early Spring, just before Easter, to test out some new recipes and see how they would fit into my routine.

Planning and Prep

I started by planning out my meals for the week, which took around 30 minutes. I chose a mix of recipes I found online, including some Easter-themed dishes like deviled eggs and hot cross buns. I made a list of all the ingredients I needed and headed to the store, where I spent around $80 on groceries. I also invested in some new containers to make my meals more portable and visually appealing. On Sunday evening, I spent around 2 hours cooking and portioning out my meals for the week.

Cooking and Portioning

The cooking process was pretty time-consuming, but it was also kind of enjoyable. I listened to music and podcasts while I worked, and I liked seeing all the different dishes come together. I made a big batch of chicken and rice, some roasted vegetables, and a few dozen hard-boiled eggs. I also tried my hand at making some more complex recipes, like quiches and frittatas. The most annoying part of the process was definitely the cleanup – I ended up using around 10 different pots and pans, and it took me a while to get everything sparkling clean. One tip I learned is to label and date all of your containers so you can easily keep track of what you have and how long it’s been in the fridge.

The Meals Themselves

The meals were definitely a highlight of the experience. I loved having a variety of different dishes to choose from each day, and I appreciated the convenience of being able to just grab something from the fridge and go. Some of my favorite meals from the week included a

  • chicken and avocado salad
  • roasted vegetable wrap
  • breakfast burrito with scrambled eggs and sausage

I also enjoyed eating outdoors a few times, now that the weather is warming up. There’s something about eating in a park or on a patio that just feels more enjoyable than eating at a desk or in front of the TV.

Conclusion and Takeaways

Overall, I’d say that meal prepping like the fitness influencers was a fun and educational experience, but it’s not something I would do on a regular basis. It was just too time-consuming and expensive, and I prefer my usual approach of keeping things simple and flexible. That being said, I did learn some new recipes and techniques, and I appreciate the convenience of having healthy meals ready to go. What do you use for meal prep containers, and do you have any favorite recipes or tips to share?
